Large Warehouse Refurbishment
The Client's Challenge
The primary client was a refit company, commissioned by the end-user to overhaul the space.
As the project progressed, the magnitude of the challenge became evident. The building’s poor condition, largely due to the neglect of the former tenant, presented a series of complexities.
With multiple changes made over time, such as mezzanine floors being shifted and walls repositioned, the resultant wear and tear were significant.
Joints had sunk, areas were damaged, and by the time other refurbishments concluded, JD Flooring Ltd was tasked with salvaging a heavily compromised substrate.
Assessment and Recommendation
Following a meticulous survey, it became glaringly obvious that, while the allocated budget had limitations, the expectations remained high.
Preparation was identified as the critical phase that would dictate the project’s success. In collaboration with our preparation sub-contractor, and despite the higher costs associated, the comprehensive plan was deemed a necessary investment.
Extensive repairs, especially around the joints and the mezzanine’s concrete pads, were integral to restoring the integrity of the space.

Preparation and Repair Details
When the day came to start the preparation we deployed two HTC triple-headed grinding machines, Planetary grinders, and a formidable Blast Track shot blasting machine, our team was ready to tackle the mammoth task.
The strategy was clear: to spare no effort in the preparation phase. Over a span of two days, once the surface was prepared, the repair work began in earnest.
About 200 linear metres of joints were treated with a high build coating, enriched with a Cabosil additive. A similar approach was employed for the ten concrete pads that had deteriorated over time. In addition, roughly 300 bolt holes were filled and meticulously sanded to ensure a flawless finish.
Installation Process
Four days of relentless effort culminated in a space primed and ready for the final touch. Epocoat HB, a top-tier epoxy high build system recognised by FerFa 3, was selected. Its reputation for longevity and quality made it the ideal choice. The initial coat was deftly applied using the squeegee method, then evenly spread using premium rollers.

Following an overnight curing period, imperfections were meticulously identified and patched to ensure we have a perfect based to apply the final coat of resin flooring. Once all the imperfections had been addressed the installation process was repeated. This time, however, a fine silica sand aggregate was incorporated to enhance slip resistance and guarantee a uniform finish.
